Based upon multi-year interdisciplinary research on the Buddhist culture of dance in Dunhuang, the Cave Dance project harnesses the power of machine learning to bring new insights upon ancient dance forms. Data from static mural drawings and motion capture of professional dancers were used to train a machine-learning model, which generated a human-computer collaborative choreography of animated movement sequences. Through this process, Cave Dance breathes new life into static dance paintings and translates ancient texts; it presents a contemporary reconstruction—and imagination—of these ancient dances.

The short film concept attempts to explore perceptual experiences related to nature, humans, and the occult. In terms of technical logic, the artist has created a real-time interactive data interface through Blueprints in Unreal Engine 5 , in order to try to get more perception out of the real data of the natural world by plugging it into the human experience of scrutiny.

Along with the development of human technology, human beings foresee the destiny that artificial intelligence will determine for human beings, so human beings implant rules in order to ensure the premise of their safety and dominance. Machine ethics, on the other hand, attempts to construct a new ethical vision in technology, making it possible for robots to develop into autonomous moral agents. Nowadays, artificial intelligence, life sciences, and information networking are constantly evolving; in the future, will machines become self-aware and open up a new era. Whether the rules of ethics will be broken in the midst of huge profits and human desires is a question that we should always reflect on ourselves.
